Avoiding Mission Creep
Responding to the tantrums on the Left is not our mission. Fixing what they broke is.

According to the Cambridge Dictionary, mission creep is defined as:
The gradual addition of new tasks or activities to a project so that the original purpose or idea begins to be lost. (https://dictionary.cambridge.org/us/dictionary/english/mission-creep)
In brief, when an organization starts focusing on things other than their core mission, they lose focus and effectiveness. Stray too far away from that central purpose, the organization becomes almost unrecognizable. Republicans and Conservatives need to keep this in mind as the Left regroups and starts getting ready for the next election.
The Left: Talk, Emote, Do Nothing
A member of the New Hanover County Board of Education (NHC BOE) just sent a letter to various media organizations outlining his adamant opposition to removing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) here in the Wilmington area and throughout North Carolina. He joins liberal Democrats across our state and nation wringing their hands and gnashing their teeth because Republicans are getting rid of programs and policies that replace merit with race and gender, and gives government and institutions the power to decide who succeeds and who fails.
This radical leftist serving on the NHC BOE is the poster child for the strategy of the Democrats for the next 16 months. They will talk and yell, write articles and send press releases. They will express outrage, smash Teslas, and invade office buildings. They will attempt to pull at heartstrings, cancel those who disagree, create their own liberal echo chambers, and post snarky memes. They will race-bait, gender-bait, and engage in class warfare.
In the end, though, that is all the Democrats can do.
Conservatives: Less Talk, More Action
Conservatives, on the other hand, need to remember our mission is not about talking. Republicans were elected to stop the immigration crisis, to end the discriminatory and dangerous policies of DEI, to stop men from beating up women in sports, to lower taxes, to increase our energy output, and to make America once again the beacon of the world. Republicans were elected to DO, not TALK. Their mission is to be action oriented, not based around rhetoric.
So far, Republicans are carrying out their mission:
- According to the Federal Register, President Trump to date has signed 89 Executive Orders that immediately change policies or direct actions. (https://www.federalregister.gov/presidential-documents/executive-orders/donald-trump/2025)
- Congress is taking up and passing issues that will change our country and culture, including passing the Laken Riley Act (https://www.gop.gov/news/)
- In North Carolina, the Republican-controlled Senate just passed a bill – sponsored by Wilmington’s own Michael Lee – that will eliminate DEI from our public schools. (https://www.wect.com/2025/03/03/state-senator-wilmington-co-sponsors-bill-eliminate-dei-public-education/).
- Also in North Carolina, Republicans – in no small part to Rep. Ted Davis – have increased spending for ALL schools, increased internet access, increased pay for police officers, all while keeping taxes low. (https://newhanovergop.org/bold-leadership-in-the-nc-state-house-ted-davis-for-nc-20/)
- Here in New Hanover County, the County Commission is working on getting rid of DEI initiatives, lowering costs, and keeping tax rates the same. The local school board is also eliminating DEI, reviewing dangerous policies, and seriously considering getting rid of a Title IX committee that has outlived its usefulness.
Action, not talk, has been and must continue to be the focus of the Republican party.
Ignore The Protests – They Know They Are Wrong
“The lady doth protest too much, me thinks” laments Getrude in Shakespeare’s Hamlet. She recognizes the more the Queen speaks, the more insincere or excessive her promises are. (https://www.oxfordreference.com/display/10.1093/acref/9780199567454.001.0001/acref-9780199567454-e-1217)
Additionally, as every parent knows, the louder a child screams because he did not get his way, the more critical it becomes to ignore him. To give in to the child, to even try engaging with him during his tantrum, is to reward the behavior and he will do it again.
Republicans need to understand liberals across the country are throwing a tantrum. Democrats know they are in the wrong. They know that 80% of the country disagrees with their stances. So all they can do is scream, protest, and try to get as much attention as possible.
What we as Conservatives must do is ignore their rhetoric and not engage. Liberals do not want to be convinced they are wrong. They do not want to partake in open and honest dialogue to explore truth. The reality is they already know they are wrong. From letting men ogle girls in locker rooms to promoting one race over the other, they know they are on the wrong side of truth and out of touch with the vast majority of the American population. However, in order to stay in power and get money from far left organizations that want to fundamentally change our country and culture, Democrats and leftists at all levels of society have to spout these lies and mistruths. Their braying will naturally be taken up by their media allies. But Conservatives need to be the adult in the room and ignore the children as they throw their tantrum.
Republicans must stay focused on task: Pass laws, implement policies, and govern in ways that will benefit EVERY American. Despite the passing screaming of Democrats and their allies in the legacy media, time will show that what we are DOING will result in good things for our county, state, and country.
Anything else, is just mission creep.
