![NIckCraigShow article](https://thewilmingtonstandard.com/images/opinions/2025/January/nickcraig/NIckCraigShow-article.png)Every day on just about every American military post in the world, the troops muster at the beginning of the work day to attend the Plan of the Day (POD). This is a time to get the general gist of the day’s events, to be reminded of critical schedules, and to get everyone on point for a united purpose. Once the POD is understood and established, it is published throughout the base or ship so that every one in that command understands what needs to happen.

That is the role of morning talk radio. This daily broadcast is more than just tuning in to hear the opinions of the host and guests. It is not just about finding out about traffic and weather. It is the AM/FM version of gathering for the Plan of the Day, to find a common purpose or focal point, to unite Americans around a problem or to celebrate a common victory. Because morning talk is driven by both the host AND guests, it gives a level of community input that is vital to rounding out that plan.

When Nick Craig, the host of the Wilmington’s Morning News for close to 4 years, left the airways in July of 2024 we lost this daily radio gathering. In addition to his refreshing views on the news of the day, we lost hearing from local elected officials, business leaders and service organizations, His departure left no real local presence on the airways, and it was sorely missed.

On January 16th, 2025 Nick returned to the air - albeit the airwaves of the new online media. And he is better than ever.

Nick joins an increasing amount of voices that have eschewed traditional media that often set limits on what they could say. From Tucker Carlson to Megyn Kelly to now Nick Craig, the new media gives broadcasters and pundits reach and flexibility that is unmatched over the airways. The power of this modern way of getting news is so profound that President Trump’s victory at the polls is in no small measure a result of his focus on independent and online broadcasting.

In many ways, Nick’s new show is simply a continuation of his broadcast show. While his focus is a touch more on state and national issues he continues to have a local flavor. He brings on guests from national organizations to local politicians. He goes live every morning at 7am, a perfect time to gather around and focus on the day ahead.

Yet, The Nick Craig Show is totally divorced from the airways version. Nick is not subject to the whims and restrictions of corporate radio structure. Nick sets the agenda, drives the pace, and sets the tempo. While he does take the occasional break (you try talking for an hour straight!), he steps away from the mic at the end of topics and not because of mandatory commercials. His discussions with guests are more indepth - because he can go as long as he thinks is necessary without having to cram discussions in between traffic reports and weather. The new show is a better show because it unleashes Nick’s incredible talent in ways that a small local radio show could not.

If you have not tuned in, please find Nick’s show on Youtube, Rumble and X every morning live at 7am. Not ready to get up that early? His show is also rebroadcast on every podcast platform. Welcome back Nick - we are glad you are once again mustering us for the daily news!
