Minorities Want Voter ID. Democrats Do Not Care
Listen

This is the Wilmington Standard Daily Update for Thursday, February 5th, 2026.
AOL is reporting that chief data analyst Harry Enten said on Tuesday that a racially diverse array of Americans support requiring photo identification to vote, despite Democratic claims that the requirement is racist.
Breaking it down by race 85% of Whites, 82% of Latinos, and 76% of Blacks support the requirement to have ID in order to vote. What the Democrats and the media have been trying to tell us for years turns out to be patently false – voter ID is not controversial – even among the demographics that the Left preaches would be harmed the most.
Republicans are trying to introduce the Safeguard American Voter Eligibilty Act – SAVE – in order to require documented proof of American citizenship. A Gallup poll from October of 2024 supports this mandate – with 83% of all Americans agreeing. Proof of citizenship which results in a valid ID is a major way to safeguard our elections from foreign influence and domestic fraud.
Democrats, however, seem intent on going back to their antebellum roots by declaring they know what is best for Black Americans when it comes to voting. According to Senator Chuck Schumer, the SAVE Act is nothing more than “Jim Crow 2.0” – referencing laws that have long been abolished in our country concerning minorities at the polls. It does not matter if Blacks and Latinos want voter ID. The Democrats know better – and Blacks just need to keep their mouths shut about it.
Senator Schumer said the same exact thing about the 2022 voting reforms in the state of Georgia – stating unequivocally the reforms would suppress the minority vote. The exact opposite happened. More Blacks showed up to vote – with zero reported problems about requiring ID. The system worked.
The SAVE Act needs to be passed by both Houses of Congress and sent to President Trump’s desk immediately. The Republicans have the votes in the House. In the Senate, however, the bill is dead on arrival.
Unless the Democrats finally decide to get off the plantations and listen to their constituents.
