Planned Parenthood

This is the Wilmington Standard Daily Update for Monday March 23 2026.

Apparently, if Planned Parenthood cannot recklessly kill babies, neither  can it provide the services for women’s health that it claims to be its primary purpose.

Live 5 News out of  Charleston, SC is reporting that a group of twenty-six  Democrat US Senators compiled a report detailing the impact the One Big Beautiful Bill has on Planned Parenthood.  In addition to over two dozen centers being closed, the Senators claim:

breast exam visits are down 25 percent. STI screenings fell 11 percent. IUD insertions for low-income Americans dropped by 40 percent, and 25,000 patients lost access to birth control.

The Democrats claim that this is all because Planned Parenthood was specifically targeted from receiving federal funds for these services – specifically Medicaid – because it falls under the Prohibited Entity definition defined in the bill.  The Democrats are only half right – while Planned Parenthood does fall under the bill’s restrictions, it is never specifically mentioned in the Act at all.  Planned Parenthood is  cut off from federal funding because they perform abortions on demand – and not just those to save the physical life of the mother or to end traumatic pregnancies resulting from rape or incest which are specific exemptions provided for in the bill.

Abortions make up less than 5% of Planned Parenthood’s overall services.  However, at a rock bottom price of \$580 per procedure and over 400,000 abortions performed in the 2022-2023 reporting period, killing babies does make up over 10% of that organization’s revenue.  Additionally, it is estimated that Planned Parenthood received about 40% of its revenue from Medicaid and other government programs before the One Big Beautiful Bill.  Giving has increased to this organization since Roe v. Wade was overturned. Neverthless, a 50% hit on projected revenue is almost impossible for any organization to overcome.

If Planned Parenthood wants to continue to provide for women’s health issues – like cancer exams, sexually transmitted disease screenings and the like – all they have to do is stop providing abortions other than those enumerated in the bill.  The money can start flowing today if they would stop the killing of babies all in the name of sex selection or convenience and start providing the vital and life-affirming services to the communities in which they serve.

Don’t hold your breath.
