Daily Update - November 27, 2025

Remember those who keep the watch.

This is the Wilmington Standard Daily Update for Thursday November 27, 2025.

Happy Thanksgiving!

As you sit down to feast today, remember we have much to be thankful for in this country.

Also remember that right now, the various military and law-enforcement branches are at work to keep our country safe.

The US Navy has currently almost 25% of its entire fleet deployed to the Caribbean in response to heightened tensions with Venezuela as well as to target the criminal drug trade.  The US Marines have been deployed to Jamaica for increased security as well as a continued presence in the Philippines.  The US Army continues to be deployed in Europe and the Middle East forward projecting America’s interests in those regions.  The Air Force maintains and mans several bases around the world maintaining our air superiority.  The Space Force mans their posts night and day in coordination of its global defense assets.

The US Coast Guard is actively protecting our sailors at sea as well as guarding our maritime borders while the Border Patrol is on duty at both our north and south borders.  Our law enforcement personnel are at work today, as well as our first responders of every variety.

Whether you agree with their missions or not, the men and women of these branches are away from family, away from tables laden with sumptuous food, and often away from safety so we do not have to be.  While we are celebrating and giving thanks for our freedoms, they are placing their bodies between those freedoms – and those who would take it away.

Yet another thing to be thankful for.

For the Wilmington Standard, I’m Reuel Sample.  Thanks for listening.
