Episode summary:

Big corporations are quietly stepping back from Pride sponsorships, and it’s not because they’ve suddenly grown a conscience—it’s because they finally did the math. In this episode, we walk through how companies like Anheuser‑Busch, Home Depot, Google, and Lowe’s have pulled out of major Pride events after years of alienating a big chunk of their customer base. We look at how Pride Month has morphed from a push for equal rights into a month‑long spectacle of sexual politics, radical demands, and confusion for kids who just want to be kids. Then we bring it back home to North Carolina, where June can finally just be June again—a time to enjoy our families, our freedom, and our coast without the culture‑war circus.

Beautiful Overlook In North Carolina - Enjoy June

Looks like June might just be turning into June again.

This is the Wilmington Standard Daily Update for Tuesday, June 2 2026.

After helping to ramp up and finance LGBTQ+ pride month for the last decade, companies across the land are finally realizing that alienating and offending a large portion of their consumer base is not good for business.  Anheuser-Busch is pulling out of pride celebrations in St. Lous and San Francisco.  Home Depot and Google walked away from Pride Toronto sponsorship – leaving those organizers with a $700,000 shortfall.  Here in North Carolina, Lowes – the hardware store not the food chain – has withdrawn from Charlotte Pride and other festivals altogether.

Good for them.

Far from organizing to bring the rights of gay Americans to the forefront – rights that have not changed one iota under Republican leadership by the way – these modern month-long protests have devolved into debauchery and excess.  Even inside the movement, some have questioned the outright hedonism and sexuality on display in many of these parades and festivals – often with children present.  Their list of demands include access to transgender surgery and procedures for children, the ability of transgender girls – read men wearing women’s clothes – access to locker rooms where our daughters change, and the idea that the US Military should provide sex-change surgeries and support at tax-payer expense.

While the Democrats seem to be holding on to these ideas that cost them the election in 2024, business and corporations are done spending money simply to prove to the Left their solidarity with those who want to parade their genitalia in the street and cut those same body parts off children.  Not only does supporting these activities not help the bottom line – in many  cases it actually hurts it.  All we have to do is look at the fallout of Bud Light – there are many on the right who STILL will never drink that beer again.

What that leaves us with is June – simply June – wonderfully June.  In North Carolina, it is that awesome time when it is not too hot – and not too cold.  Kids are still excited about being out of school – and parents are not ready to send them back yet. The flowers and greenery are blooming, there is an excitement in the air that is almost tangible.

It is a time of easy celebration – not of our genders, nor  our sexuality – but just about being in the best state in the country to celebrate this time of  year.  June – in North Carolina – along the coast.

Seems that is the way it should be.
